10th Annual Bucket Brigade

We are excited to announce the 10th Annual Bucket Brigade, which will be on Saturday, June 10, 2017. The Bucket Brigade is one of the largest outings for the Ernie Nester Chapter of Trout Unlimited (ENCTU).

Our volunteers will form a line that will meander deep into the forest to the headwaters of the Middle Fork of the Williams River. Nearly ten tons of limestone sand in buckets will be passed volunteer to volunteer until it reaches the headwaters where it will be placed and slowly disseminate into the water.

The placement of limestone sand into the headwaters of the Middle Fork of the Williams River in the Cranberry Wilderness area deep in the Monongahela National Forest will improve water quality and help with the ongoing resurgence of brook trout, the state's official fish, in the stream.

We need your help to ensure this outing is a success. Last year, nearly 100 volunteers from the Ernie Nester Chapter of Trout Unlimited and other Trout Unlimited chapters across the state, our friends at the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WV DNR), and employees from several local Walmart stores helped make the day a great success.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Jeff Nelsen, the Bucket Brigade Coordinator, at (304) 951-2247 or jefflnelsen@suddenlink.net.
